What communication protocols do these IoT sensors use?

Most devices operate on LoRaWAN, while others support PoE, MQTT(s), HTTP(s), RS485, WiFi AP mode, or device-to-device automation. This allows flexible integration with BAS, SCADA, EMS, and MeterConnex.

How far can these sensors transmit data?

LoRaWAN devices typically reach hundreds of meters indoors and several kilometers outdoors, depending on building density and gateway placement. PoE devices like the VS125 rely on Ethernet or cellular for reliable, low-latency communication.

Do the sensors require wiring?

Some devices are battery-powered, such as the WS303 leak sensor which operates up to 5.7 years on a CR2450 battery. Others are PoE-powered (VS125 people counter) for high throughput, or PoE + cellular for network redundancy.

Are the devices suitable for harsh or industrial environments?

Yes. Many sensors have IP67 or IP65 enclosures, wide temperature tolerance, and vibration-resistant housings. The WS303 leak sensor offers IP67 protection for wet environments
