Temperature Infrared and RTD

SRB Controls provides a comprehensive range of temperature measurement instruments, from contact RTDs and thermocouples to non-contact infrared pyrometers. Our partnership with Williamson Corporation allows us to deliver world-class infrared pyrometry solutions for high-temperature, harsh industrial environments: including steel mills, foundries, and heat-treatment applications.

Temperature Infrared and RTD

SRB Controls sells temperature sensors, thermowells and transmitters. Our speciality is Infrared temperature pyrometers. Take advantage of our 30 years of working with Infrared pyrometers to pick a sensor that will work best for you.

For lower and moderate temperature ranges, SRB offers RTD assemblies, thermowells, and transmitters tailored to process control and equipment monitoring. Every sensor can be commissioned, calibrated, and verified by SRB’s technical team to ensure precision, repeatability, and traceable compliance across your operations.

Frequently Asked Questions About Temperature Measurement

What’s the difference between RTDs and infrared pyrometers?

RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) measure temperature by physical contact and provide highly stable readings over time. Infrared pyrometers, like those from Williamson, measure surface temperature remotely using infrared radiation: ideal for extreme heat where contact sensors can’t survive.

When should I use a fibre optic infrared pyrometer?

Fibre optic pyrometers allow accurate measurement in confined or electromagnetically noisy environments. The fibre cable isolates the electronics from heat and enables safe placement near furnaces or induction systems.

What are camera-style pyrometers used for?

era-style pyrometers combine visual and thermal targeting, providing precise alignment on moving or small targets. They’re popular in metal casting, glass forming, and materials research applications.

Do RTDs require thermowells or transmitters?

Yes. For industrial installations, RTDs are typically paired with thermowells to protect against pressure and flow, and transmitters to convert signals to 4–20 mA or digital protocols. SRB can supply and configure both.

Can infrared pyrometers be integrated into control systems?

Absolutely. Williamson pyrometers support analog and digital outputs (Modbus, Ethernet, 4–20 mA) for seamless integration with MeterConnex or existing plant control systems.
